After 10 years of Ahilyabai’s marriage i.e. in 1745, she gave birth to a son in the form of Malarao. Three years after the birth of the son, i.e. in 1748, she gave birth to a daughter named Muktabai. Ahilyabai always used to support her husband in the royal work.

Ahilyabai Holkar was living a very happy life but she was broken in 1754 due to the death of her husband Khanderao Holkar. After his passing, Ahilya Bai thought of becoming a saint, as soon as Malhar Rao ie his father-in-law came to know about this decision, he stopped Ahilyabai from becoming a saint by changing her decision and pleading for her kingdom.

Following her father-in-law’s advice, Ahilyabai again moved ahead thinking about her kingdom, but her troubles and her sorrows were not going to subside. His father-in-law died in 1766 and his son Malarao in 1767. After losing her husband, son and father-in-law, Ahilyabai was now left alone and the charge of the state was now on her. He made tireless efforts to make the state a developed state. Many troubles in his life were waiting for him even at that time.
