What happened in Lakhimpur?
The farmers had decided to march from Lakhimpur Kheri to Tikunia on Sunday afternoon, under which thousands of farmers were going to participate in this march. On receiving information about the arrival of the Deputy CM, the farmers took over the helipad site at Maharaja Agrasen Sports Ground. As a result, there was a change in the program of Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya and he reached Lakhimpur by road from Lucknow.
Violence in Lakhimpur Kheri incident:
There was a lot of anger among the farmers. He destroyed the holdings set up to welcome Keshav Prasad Maurya at Tikunia. Farmers from many villages like Palia, Bijua, Khajuria, Sampurnanagar Bhira reached with black flags in their hands to protest. Farmers gathered at Tikunia Banbirpur turn with the intention of showing black flags to home state Ajay Mishra Teni and Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya.
The farmers wanted to express their anger against Union Minister Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra (also known as Monu) and his supporters. The farmers allege that Ajay Mishra and his supporters had driven vehicles on the protesting farmers. As a result, the farmers torched Monu’s vehicle as well as three other vehicles. The farmers were so angry that they overturned the rest of the vehicles after burning three vehicles.
Steps for safety in Lakhimpur:
Five companies of central forces and three companies of PAC have been deployed as the incident took a serious turn. Internet services have been suspended for the time being to stabilize the situation in the district, while the government has allotted a team of government officials for a proper investigation into the incident. Additional Chief Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi, ADG Prashant Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Ranjan Kumar, IG Range Lucknow Laxmi Singh have been kept in this team.

Ashish Mishra has denied the allegations made by the farmers, saying that he was not present at the spot. He says that he was present at the venue of Dangal at that time. He said there was no evidence of his presence at the spot. Ashish says that the vehicle was being driven by his driver and he was present at an event at a distance of 4 km from the spot. He also believes that a high level inquiry should be conducted into this incident.
The opposition will camp in Lakhimpur Kheri against the government on Monday and express its protest. After this incident, the United Kisan Morcha has announced a nationwide demonstration on Monday. This demonstration will be held outside the offices of the District Magistrates and Commissioners. Farmer leaders have demanded a Supreme Court judge instead of Uttar Pradesh administration to investigate the incident.
